Carriage Barn
Although
it is made from 100 year old timbers and barn boards, this carriage barn
was actually constructed in the late 1970's. The original barn
from which the wood came stood on the Mathews Farm on Gardner Line Road.
It was donated to the museum by Gerald Nyquist. It is constructed
as most early barns were built, the beams are pegged but the cross
supports and decking are nailed. The horse-drawn buggy used by Dr.
Joseph Loop when making rounds to treat his patients is on the grounds
as well. There is also a carriage that was a funeral hearse from
the Carmen Funeral Home.
